MyOwnFP is a small 😂 team of software professionals dedicated 😓 to providing financial planning software tools for Canadians investors to aid in their financial journey.
✓ We’ve spent years with various spreadsheets, trying to figure out planning, then new rules or new types of accounts come along and then ugh! have to rework all the spreadsheets and charts. 😖 There are many retirement calculators online, and they make so many simplifying assumption that they really aren’t useful. There had to be a better way.
✓ We wanted to create a simple well structured application that would make this simpler and thought why not make that available to all Canadian DIY investors (struggling with their own spreadsheets), who may want to do these calculations without having to go to a financial advisor. We deploy to the cloud on AWS(Canada) to make it simpler to update with new features and keep costs down, which in turn helps keep it reasonably inexpensive.
✓ We don’t require any of your banking information. The data entered here is fully standalone, though of course it needs to be accurate at the account level to provide a reasonable financial plan.
✓ Of course financial advisors provide good value in explaining some of your options and helping you with your finances.
✓ Our goal was to separate the advice from just running the numbers. If you have a financial planner, we still encourage your to use MyOwnFP and run your own scenarios to then talk with your advisor about.
✓ If you are a financial advisor these tools are here for you too, you can use them, share the plan with your clients, let them access it online and explore their own finances. It’s a great as an educational tool.
✓ Plus we’re computer geeks 😎 so this is actually fun!
